never fails to make me wonder. maybe a lot more than i should. there are so many ways of looking at things, so many circumstances and perspectives one can choose from - yet most of human society picks the one point of view everyone else is siding with. today, we talked about the military - how teenagers are taken, literally erased of all their morals that are soon replaced with ideas that killing and putting yourself up for death is now your only purpose in life. this goal is achieved in about 6 weeks and all i could ask myself is how? to put up your own life for a country seems almost impossible and far beyond what my mind is capable of handling. maybe the mind of a teenage boy is still unstable enough to be extremely malleable, but the discipline that is purposely given in an institution like that...it's amazing that any one, let alone 100 people at a time, could get through it.
